Convert PEF to AVIF — Best Compression
PEF is Pentax's RAW format and holds far more data than any web page needs. AVIF compresses the result harder than WEBP or JPG, which matters when a 24–36 MP frame has to load quickly.

Lossless format — files can be large
GIF is limited to 256 colors
Best for logos, icons, and line art. Photos produce stylized results.
BMP files are uncompressed and can be very large. Consider TIFF (LZW) or PNG for lossless with smaller file sizes.

Why Convert PEF to AVIF?
AVIF is usually 20–30% smaller than WEBP again, which compounds across a gallery. The trade is encoding time and thinner support outside browsers. Note that Pentax bodies can write either PEF or DNG straight out of the camera, so a shooter who picked PEF chose the proprietary option deliberately.
How to Convert PEF to AVIF
