The photograph is traced into flat vector shapes rather than stored as pixels, so the result is a stylised poster-like interpretation of the Alpha frame, not a faithful copy. It scales to any size without blurring, which is the point of doing it.

Polygon mode traces straight-edged shapes, which suits angular subjects such as architecture and produces smaller files. Spline mode fits smooth curves, which flatters organic subjects like faces and foliage at the cost of a larger, more complex SVG.

A traced photograph can become thousands of individual vector paths, and each one costs markup. Detailed Alpha frames produce especially heavy SVGs. Simplifying the source first — crop tight, raise contrast, reduce fine detail — gives a far smaller result.
