Frequently Asked Questions

Not faithfully. The photo is traced into flat vector shapes, so the result is a stylised, poster-like interpretation rather than a copy. That is the intended effect — it scales to any size without ever blurring, which no pixel format can do.

Yes. The output is standard SVG markup, so Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma and Affinity Designer can all open it and edit individual traced shapes — recolouring regions, deleting detail, or reshaping paths. That editability is the main reason to trace a photograph at all.

When a photograph needs to become graphic artwork: screen-printed shirts, vinyl cutting, bold poster illustration, or a logo study drawn from a portrait. For ordinary photographic use, JPG, WEBP or AVIF are the correct formats.

Tracing a detailed Nikon frame can generate thousands of separate vector paths, and every path costs markup. High-megapixel sources are the worst offenders. Cropping tight, raising contrast and reducing fine detail before converting produces a dramatically smaller SVG.
