Convert PEF to BMP — Uncompressed
PEF is Pentax's RAW format. BMP is what you convert to when something downstream demands uncompressed pixels: some older Windows software, imaging SDKs and embedded systems accept it and nothing else.

Lossless format — files can be large
GIF is limited to 256 colors
Best for logos, icons, and line art. Photos produce stylized results.
BMP files are uncompressed and can be very large. Consider TIFF (LZW) or PNG for lossless with smaller file sizes.
Leave empty for all pages. Multi-page PDFs produce a ZIP.

Why Convert PEF to BMP?
BMP applies no compression at all, so it is far larger than PNG with no quality advantage — both are lossless. It exists in this list because some toolchains still require it. Note that Pentax bodies can write either PEF or DNG straight out of the camera, so a shooter who picked PEF chose the proprietary option deliberately.
How to Convert PEF to BMP
Upload your PEF file. Up to 50 MB per file.
The RAW is decoded and written as a 24-bit uncompressed bitmap.
Download the BMP. Be ready for a large file — there is no compression at all.
Quality Note
BMP and PNG both store the decoded image losslessly, so the pixels are identical — BMP simply stores them uncompressed. A 24–36 MP frame lands around 70–110 MB.
