Lossless format — files can be large
GIF is limited to 256 colors
Best for logos, icons, and line art. Photos produce stylized results.
BMP files are uncompressed and can be very large. Consider TIFF (LZW) or PNG for lossless with smaller file sizes.

Why Convert RW2 to HEIC?
HEIC gives roughly half a JPG's file size at the same visual quality and drops straight into Apple Photos. Outside Apple's ecosystem support is patchier. Note that Panasonic uses RW2 across two very different sensor sizes, so file dimensions vary far more between Lumix bodies than they do within most makers' ranges.
