An ICO is a container holding several square images at once — typically 16, 32, 48 and 256 pixels. PNG is the natural way back out: it is the only common target that keeps both the full colour depth and the alpha channel the icon was built with.

Lossless format — files can be large
GIF is limited to 256 colors
Best for logos, icons, and line art. Photos produce stylized results.
BMP files are uncompressed and can be very large. Consider TIFF (LZW) or PNG for lossless with smaller file sizes.
Leave empty for all pages. Multi-page PDFs produce a ZIP.

Why Convert ICO to PNG?
PNG keeps the alpha channel, so a mark drawn to sit on any background still does. It is also lossless and universally supported, which makes it the safe archival copy of an icon whose source artwork has been lost.

Quality Note
